United Middle School STEM Academy Students Present “Foot Orthosis” Designs

After two weeks of research and three classes to complete Project Lead the Way, United Middle School Science Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), 6th-grade students presented their foot orthosis designs to three Physician Assistants from Laredo Sports Medicine for evaluation. The challenge was to create a foot orthosis for a child with cerebral palsy within specific parameters. Project Lead the Way was organized and directed by United Middle School STEM teacher Cristina Mendoza.
