Ruiz Elementary Students participate in Code-a-Thon

3rd-5th-grade students at Ruiz Elementary participated in a week-long Code-A-Thon. Coding teaches valuable skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking and creativity, skills necessary for academic success.  To conclude the week, guest speaker Mr. Jeremy Cantu, a software developer in Austin, Texas, discussed the importance of coding and programming in everyday life.  They went through steps on how to create a webpage using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.  The inquisitive students had a variety of questions for the speaker.  Mr. Cantu is a former graduate of the United High School Engineering Magnet and Texas A&M College Station.
