Overview

United Independent School District believes that the integration of technology in the curriculum is a vital element in the future success of all its students. By utilizing technology in providing instruction, the individual needs of students with different levels of abilities can be met. In working toward becoming an effective school, technology will serve to enhance existing instruction and pedagogy and provides a means of monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of technology for special populations.

Technology will also assist district professionals in their effort to ensure the opportunity for all students to develop not only basic skills, but to experience curriculum that emphasizes the skill necessary for their entry into schools higher education or those demanded of individuals entering the work force. United ISD is committed to utilizing technology to prepare its students for success upon graduation from high school by determining the needs of the community, business, and industry and adjusting the curriculum to meet those needs.

The UISD Information Technology Department provides teachers, students, and staff with convenient access to information and services. The team of network specialists, microcomputer technicians, and program analysts implement proven applications   while researching emerging technology.

In an effort to support the district’s 53,251 computers, Chromebooks, iPads and 245 servers, the department has implemented a server consolidation project by using virtualization technology. Additionally, the department has installed virtual desktop computers at all campuses in an effort to provide savings to the school district by reducing electrical consumption.

The student and financial information systems team ensure the integrity and accuracy of all data submitted to state and federal entities. This is especially important since administrators make decisions based on instructional and business data.

To satisfy the increased need for instructional software in our schools, the department has responded with immediacy by expanding the district’s computer network and video infrastructure through the use of local and federal funds.

United ISD is committed to utilizing technology to prepare its students for success upon graduation from high school by determining the needs of the community, business, and industry. We are proud that we’ve been   successful in our quest to provide the district with optimal and cost-efficient information delivery systems.
