You may request public information in accordance with the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA), Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code.
To do so, please submit a request using one of the methods outlined below. Make sure to include enough description and detail of the requested information so that the United Independent School District can accurately identify and locate the requested items.
The TPIA does not require United Independent School District to create new information, perform legal research, or to answer questions. The request must ask for records already in existence. There is no initial cost for making a public information act request. However, the Act does allow governmental bodies to assess charges in certain situations. If a request for a copy of public information will result in a charge in excess of $40, the District will provide you a written itemized statement that details all the estimated charges that will be imposed. If you do not respond to the itemized statement within 10 business days, the Request will be considered withdrawn. If the request will result in estimated charges in excess of $40, the District will confirm, in writing, that you accept the charges before finalizing the request or you may amend the request. If you amend the request, the District will provide an updated statement if the estimated charges for the amended request are also more than $40.
