For over a decade, United ISD has proudly partnered with McDonald’s of Laredo for this fun and great fundraising event. McTeacher’s Night brings together local educators, students, and families to support their schools over a meal and a smile at McDonald’s.
On Tuesday morning, McDonald’s of Laredo President Mike Marasco, joined by local McDonald’s representatives, UISD Superintendent Dr. Gerardo Cruz, district administrators, and elementary school leaders and staff, gathered to celebrate the event’s success. McDonald’s presented checks to each participating school, collectively raising $7,745. “We’re incredibly grateful for McDonald’s continued generosity and for opening their doors to our teachers, students, and families,” said Dr. Cruz. “A big thank you to our amazing teachers and staff who volunteered their time to make this fundraiser a success. I’m thrilled to share that our participating schools this Spring raised nearly $2,000 more than in the fall.”
As part of the McTeacher’s Night partnership, McDonald’s donates 20% of sales from each event back to the participating schools. Several schools took back big check amounts to their campus, with Trautmann Elementary raising the most funds. The Texans received a check for $1,150. “It’s a great way for students, parents, and school staff to come together in a friendly, welcoming setting and work toward a shared goal,” said Mike Marasco. “We’re just very happy that UISD partnered with us once again, they’re great partners in our community.”

Across town, dozens of UISD teachers, principals, counselors, staff, and volunteers dressed up in full school spirit attire to help serve meals as they greeted families with handmade posters. “We had a very good turnout,” shared Jessica Thomas, assistant principal at Roberto Santos Elementary. “Every year our parents and community are incredibly supportive. We know it takes time out of their busy schedules to come to McTeacher’s Night, and we’re very grateful.”

The event continues to be a shining example of how community partnerships can shape a brighter future. McTeacher’s Night is more than a fundraiser, it’s a chance to strengthen the bond between schools and families, proving that when we work together, students benefit most.
Participating UISD elementary schools included: Bonnie Garcia, Fasken, Kazen, Kennedy-Zapata, Newman, Roberto Santos, Ruiz, Trautmann, and Veterans Memorial Elementary.
