United ISD’s Federal Programs Summer Enrichment initiative brought a burst of creativity, exploration, and fun to students across the district. The program wrapped up with a field trip to the Children’s Imaginarium of South Texas Museum where students took part in hands-on exhibits and even met live animals.
The Federal Programs Summer Enrichment Camp is designed to provide a safe and engaging environment where students can grow academically and socially. Through interactive literacy activities tied to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and SEL (Social and Emotional Learning), students explored new ideas while building essential life skills.
Beyond academics, the program emphasizes character education, nurturing values such as friendship, kindness, confidence, courage, and a sense of belonging. The museum visit brought these values to life as students worked together throughout the exhibits and discovered the joy of learning in a collaborative setting.
“Our goal is to give students meaningful experiences that connect learning with life,” said Sara Hernandez, Federal Programs Administrator. “This museum visit allowed them to explore science, literacy, and social skills in a way that felt exciting and memorable.”
Aside from creating giant bubbles, shopping and playing cashier at the Imaginarium's mini HEB, the highlight for many students was meeting and learning all about a bearded dragon and snake.
