UISD Congratulates George W.M.S.Assistant Principal Jennifer Andrea Blanco on Statewide Recognition

The United Independent School District proudly congratulates George Washington Middle School Assistant Principal, Jennifer Andrea Blanco, on being selected as the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) Region 1 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year.

This prestigious recognition highlights Ms. Blanco’s exceptional leadership, dedication to student success, and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. Nominated by her peers, Mrs. Blanco stood out among assistant principals across the Region 1 Education Service Center for her contributions to secondary education.

UISD Executive Director of Secondary Education, Melissa Cruz, shared her praise for Ms. Blanco’s achievement:

“It gives me great pleasure to congratulate Jennifer Blanco on being named the 2025–2026 TASSP Region 1 Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year. This is a very deserved honor. Jennifer is not only recognized for her extreme hard work and dedication, but she is also known for her contagious positive attitude. Congratulations, Jennifer.”

With a distinguished career spanning over 17 years, Ms. Blanco began her educational journey in 2007 at Lyndon B. Johnson High School, teaching English Language Arts and Reading. Her teaching career spans across several high schools and school districts, including United South High School, Wagner High School, and Cigarroa High School. She has taught English I, II, and III and was named Teacher of the Year at United South High School in 2018. In 2019, she took on a leadership role as an ELAR Pathfinder at United South High School, followed by Academic Coordinator in 2021 at Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle School, transitioning into her current position as Assistant Principal at George Washington Middle School in 2022.

Blanco holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language Arts and Reading with a minor in Psychology (2007) and a Master's in Educational Administration (2020), both from Texas A&M International University. She also brings a wealth of professional development and leadership experience, having completed the Aspiring Assistant Principal and Aspiring Principal Academies. Her certifications include English Language Arts 8–12, ESL Supplemental, and Principal as Instructional Leader (EC-12), along with credentials as a T-TESS Appraiser and T-PESS-certified leader.

Most recently, she was honored as a 2024 United ISD Panther Legend, highlighting her professional dedication and impact on the community.

“I would like to thank Region 1 and my Principal, David Guzman, for believing in me. Receiving this award is a true testament to my dedication to service. Having a servant’s heart, I strive to have a positive impact on my school community, students, and fellow educators,” said Mrs. Blanco. “I’m truly blessed and thankful to God for allowing me to be the person I am and for placing me where He needs me. None of this would be possible without the support of my husband, Carlos Blanco III, my two sons, Charlie and Justin, my parents, and my family. Lastly, I would like to thank the Bobcat Nation for their support and trust, for this award is theirs as well.”

Ms. Blanco will be formally recognized next year at the Jostens Night of the Stars Awards Dinner during the TASSP Summer Workshop in June, where she will be honored alongside fellow regional winners from across Texas and considered for the state title of Texas Assistant Principal of the Year.

United ISD celebrates Ms. Blanco's outstanding accomplishments and extends a heartfelt congratulations for this well-deserved honor.
