UISD Appoints Jessica Whitedove Duarte as New Director of Health Services

United Independent School District proudly announces the appointment of Jessica Whitedove Duarte as the new Director of Health Services. With over 17 years of school nursing experience and a deep-rooted commitment to student well-being, Duarte brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and leadership to her new role.

Duarte most recently served as the school nurse at Clark Middle School for one year, following a 16-year tenure at Los Obispos Middle School. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her dedication to providing compassionate care and positively impacting the lives of countless students.

“Making a lasting, positive impact on my students during their most vulnerable moments has been the most rewarding part of my journey,” said Duarte. “Watching them grow, graduate, and even pursue careers in healthcare has been a true blessing.”

As Director of Health Services, Duarte will oversee the district’s team of school nurses and lead efforts to enhance student health and safety across all campuses. She is committed to building a culture rooted in collaboration, support, and professional growth.

“I’m incredibly honored and humbled to have been entrusted with this opportunity,” Duarte shared. “My goal is to create an environment where our nurses feel valued, supported, and empowered. Together, we can build a culture of excellence in student health services.”

A proud product of Laredo, Duarte graduated from J.W. Nixon High School, earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Laredo Community College, and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Texas A&M International University. Her career began at Doctor’s Hospital as a pediatric/med-surgical nurse, followed by work in home health and hospice before transitioning into school nursing.

“I pursued this role because I felt a calling to uplift and inspire our nursing team,” Duarte explained. “By empowering our staff, we enrich the lives of the students and families we serve.”

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Duarte is active in her faith community. She teaches Sunday School alongside her husband at Grace Bible Church, enjoys fishing, dancing with her 7-year-old daughter, and spending quality time with family.

United ISD congratulates Jessica Whitedove Duarte on her new leadership role and looks forward to the positive impact she will continue to make on student health and wellness throughout the district.

Duarte will oversee 60 district nurses, 22 health technicians, along with the Health Services Department staff.
