Alexander's Soccer Team Makes History

Alexander and L.B. Johnson High Schools faced one another last Friday to determine which team would represent Laredo at the State 6A Soccer Playoffs. This was the third time this season that both sides faced each other. During the first match, Johnson HS defeated Alexander 3-2; during their second match, the score was 2-2. However, the third game was decisive and, with penalty kicks, the Bulldogs defeated the Wolves 6-4 making this the first time in Alexander's history that a soccer team makes it this far in a State Soccer Championship. Coach Hermosillo said, "It's these kids, all the credit goes to them! We knew we were facing a great team, and we wanted to remain focused and disciplined because we knew LBJ is a great team...I am proud of them; I feel blessed to coach this group of athletes. Now we have the opportunity to play in the sweet 16."

Diego Rocha, Brandon Grajeda, Sebastian Mercado, Jesus Nunez, and Omar Cabrales scored the winning points.
