Attendance

The mission of the Attendance Department is to foster a culture of consistent school attendance by recognizing its pivotal role in student academic success and overall well-being. The Attendance Department believes that every student deserves a comprehensive and continuous educational experience, which is directly supported by attending school on a daily basis.

The Attendance Department is committed to:

  • Promoting Student Achievement:
    • Maximize each student's learning potential by ensuring daily attendance for instruction by engaging with a high-quality curriculum and benefiting from classroom discussions, experiences, and activities. Consistent school attendance correlates with improving students' academic performance and developing critical thinking skills. Students achieving perfect attendance during a six-week period or achieving perfect attendance throughout the entire academic year are recognized. /span>
  • Compliance:
    • Follow all applicable state laws and regulations governing school attendance. Regular campus visits are conducted throughout the school year to ensure compliance and consistency at all UISD campuses.
  • Attendance Staff:
    • Train all UISD’s Attendance Clerks and Registrars by ensuring accurate attendance records are maintained by implementing attendance accounting procedures as mandated by the Texas Education Agency and local district policies.
  • Attendance Officers:
    • Train all district attendance officers who work collaboratively with students and their parents. Through open communication and proactive interventions, attendance officers strive to create a supportive network that ensures every student feels valued, safe, and motivated to attend school daily. School attendance officers play a crucial role in enforcing the state's compulsory school attendance laws and ensuring preventive measures are applied.
