This system is used to encode all educational and health data about each identified migrant child and for transferring student information not only within the state but also to the 46 receiving states that also serve Texas migrant children. The migrant education program or MEP is required to continually and efficiently enter all student data into the database in order to accurately record each student’s information. This is critical due to the high mobility factor of the migrant population. Any district with access to the database is able to easily determine student placement into any campus if information is properly encoded. Academic data is vital to assure that migrant students receive the necessary interventions and assistance to graduate from high school. Health data guarantees that each child’s health needs are properly addressed. Data is entered under strict timelines as per federal guidelines.
